Intan Dewi Kumala is a lecturer at Department of Psychology University of Syiah Kuala, whose expertise is in trauma and disaster psychology. Intan did her undergraduate in psychology at Gadjah Mada University and master degree in Trauma and Disaster Psychology at University of Indonesia. She teaches Introduction to Disaster Psychology, Disaster Intervention and Management, Social Psychology, Community Psychology, and Peace Psychology. She is also a researcher at Tsunami and Disaster Mitigation Research Centre (TDMRC) University of Syiah Kuala. Her research interest focuses on Community Based and School-Based Disaster Risk Reduction Program, Post-Disaster and Post-Conflict Mental Health Impacts and Intervention, and Program Evaluation.
Moreover, Intan facilitates training on disaster risk reduction and psychosocial support program for local community, red cross volunteers and government officials. In addition to that, she has five-year field experience as Red Cross and Red Crescent staff and volunteer providing initial response and implementing rehabilitation program for several disasters in Indonesia (e.g 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami in Aceh, 2006 Padang earthquake, 2007 earthquake and volcanic eruption in Yogyakarta and Central Java, 2007 Bengkulu earthquake and 2013 Gayo earthquake).
