Jalaluddin was born in Pidie on July 31, 1958. He has BS degree in the Mechanical Engineering Deparment, Engineering Faculty, Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta Indonesia in 1985. He has joined  the Faculty of Engineering, University of Syiah Kuala since 1985 as a lecturer and presently Senior Lecturer  in the Department of  Mechanical Engineering. He received his Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bandung Institute of Technology in 1995. His research interest is heat transfer engineering,energy conservation and  optimization. He has experience in teaching of heat transfer, engineering thermodynamics and applied  mathematics. He has written and presented workshops and trainings on variety of topics related to construction mechanical, plumbing and electrical engineering works. He has been engaged for many years as a consultant to local, national and international companies as Mechanical Engineer. His project experience has included plumbing, mechanical (air conditioning), electrical (power generation and medium voltage distribution systems). He was a registered professional engineer and a member of the Indonesian Engineer Institution, the Association of Indonesian Electrical Professionals and the  Association of Indonesian Mechanical Professionals. Since 2009 he has been working as the Assessor for the Mechanical Engineering at the Construction Services Development Board, and now he also works as the Assessor for the Electrical Power Generation under assigning the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Indonesia.
