Nurdin Ali was born in Teupin Raya, Pidie, on June 27, 1957, he completed his Bachelor's degree in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Industrial Technology, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November (ITS), Surabaya in 1984. In 1993, he completed his Master's degree in the the Deparment of Materials Science and Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Kassel, Germany. Then in 2014, he was awarded Doctorate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering by the Faculty of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). From 1985 untill now, he was appointed as lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Universitas Syiah Kuala (UNSYIAH), Banda Aceh, Indonesia.
