Prof. Dr. Syahrun Nur Madjid is a senior lecturer in physics at Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of SyiahKuala University (USK). He achieved the Ph.D. degree from Fukui University in 2004. His main research interest is in fundamental studies on Laser-Induced Breakdown Plasma Spectroscopy (LIBS) and its applications in the field of industry, medicine, agriculture, environment, etc that implemented for real-time monitoring of processed material, quality control of pharmaceutical materials as well as food, etc. He has published many scientific articles in International Journal indexed by Scopus. Since a long time ago, he has a research collaboration with Dr. Koo Hendrik Kurniawan at Maju Makmur Mandiri Research Centre in Jakarta. Besides that, he is also interested in performing better physics education by developing science tools using inexpensive and used tools that joint collaboration with Prof. Kiichiro Kagawa, from the University of Fukui, Japan.
He has experienced in Management of Higher Education, specifically in Internal Quality Assurance (IQA). He involved actively in Quality Assurance Board of Syiah Kuala University since 2008-2018, and during that time he participated in QA training, such as ASEAN-QA, ASEAN-QA2 , Curriculum development, Internal Audit, etc. Nowadays, he has been appointed as Vice Director for Academic and student affair of Graduate School of Syiah Kuala University.
